Write for us
Coastal Spotlight welcomes thoughtful pitches about coastal places and the ways people understand, use and move through them. We look for a precise question, a clear explanation and a subject that can remain useful beyond a single news cycle.
What to propose
Pitch an original article on shoreline forms, harbour life, coastal towns, sea routes or access to the shore. A strong idea identifies its reader, explains what the piece will clarify and sets out a distinct angle rather than offering a broad survey.
What makes a pitch useful
Send a short outline, the central question, the proposed category and a note on the material you would use. Explain any limits or uncertainties, and flag relevant images or rights considerations. Do not send confidential information or present professional, safety-critical or locally regulated advice as general guidance.
How to submit
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication; please do not send a complete article unless requested.
